摘要

臺灣林業鐵道，是臺灣過去伐木產業（logging industry）集散的運輸通道（transport channel），最負盛名者即是阿里山森林鐵路，也是日治時期官營體系的三大林場鐵路之一。而阿里山鐵路不同於臺鐵的1,067mm軌距，是一套獨特且具規模的762mm軌距的車輛體系，更是西元1912－2011年這近百年鐵道運輸的關鍵性角色，成就臺灣鐵道史上不朽的一頁驚異傳奇。本文詳細介紹阿里山森林鐵路的蒸汽機車、柴油機車、柴油客車、客車、貨車等五大類的鐵道車輛的體系與其歷史，透過本文的研究成果，讓我們可以瞭解其不平凡的特色與價值。雖然2009年的八八風災之後鐵路慘遭重創，目前百廢待舉，這條鐵路的將來，更需要國人的認同與關心。

In Taiwan, the Alishan Forest rRailways were transport channels for the distribution of the logging industry in the past plays the important role in the former. The Alishan Forest Railway, one of the three most famous forest Taiwan logging system, it is the one of three forest railways during the in period of Japanese occupation Japanese empire era. It is Iinstead of 1067mm railway gauge employed byof the Taiwan Railway Administration, the Alishan Forest Railway isit has been equipped with 762mm railway gauge and independent rolling stock inin operation. This paper illustrates the history of the Alishan Forest Railway rolling stocks, includinges the steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, diesel railcars, passenger cars and freight cars. Through the research, people We can realize the distinguishing feature and great value of the that Alishan Forest Railway is very valuable. Though it had been experienced the sever damage caued by Typhoon Morakotterminates due to damages after the storm destroyed in in the summer of 2009 and is still under reconstruction, the Alishan Forest Railway it also needs the attention and concerning from every Taiwan citizens.
