The Implication of Documentation Strategy for Archival Appraisal

摘要

1980年代由Helen Samuels等人提倡之文件策略（documentation strategy），是近代檔案鑑定的新概念，其主要目的在於為檔案鑑定人員所面臨種種文書檔案問題提出一套解決方案，因而成為檔案界之討論焦點。雖然文件策略在實際執行層面，仍存在許多困難與問題，但其對傳統檔案鑑定概念的挑戰與影響，進而引發檔案學界對檔案鑑定理論與實務工作的重新思考與爭辯，是文件策略對檔案鑑定理論發展的最大貢獻。本文從文件策略的定義與特點出發，探討其與館藏發展和檔案鑑定的關係，進而分析該策略所呈現的檔案鑑定意涵，藉此對該鑑定模式有更進一步之瞭解。

In the 1980s, Helen Samule and others proposed a new appraisal concept called 〞document strategy〞. It has become a discussion focus in archival articles. The purpose of this new concept is to provide a solution for archivists to solve the problems they have faced. Although there are many difficult situations when archivists put it into practice, document strategy has challenged traditional archival appraisal concepts and methods. It has also caused archivists to rethink the issue of the archival appraisal theory and practice. This article first discusses the definition and characteristics of document strategy. Secondly, the author explores the relationship between document strategy and collection development on one hand, as well as document strategy and appraisal on the other hand. Finally, the implication of document strategy has been analyzed.
