Psychology in Japonisme and Art Nouveau: On the Influence of Artistic Japan

摘要


The paper introduced the psychological connection of Japonisme and the Art Nouveau. Japan opening its gate to the western world brought a revival of Japanese art known as Japonisme. Following afterwards is the Art Nouveau Movement that responds to the intensely industrialized society. Siegfried Bing was an important character throughout both movements. Zooming in on Siegfried Bing's Journal: Artistic Japan. The paper discusses the aspects on nature, religion, and psychology, in which Japonisme promotes. It demonstrates its relationship the psychological importance of the Art Nouveau.
