陳之佛設計批評之研究

Research on Chen Zhifo's Design Criticism

摘要


陳之佛先生是中國近代的設計教育家及設計理論研究的奠基者,更是中國文化與美學的發揚者。本研究首次從設計批評的角度出發,嘗試建構陳之佛先生的設計思想。筆者以陳之佛的生平事迹、設計作品及其所處社會的經濟、文化、技術及政治環境為背景,以陳之佛1928年到1962年間發表出版的設計類文章、演講稿及專著等文本為基礎,對其字里行間呈現出的設計批評思想進行研究,並將其設計批評思想歸納總結為五個各自靈活獨立且有機統一的標準:適用性、經濟性、美觀性、創造性與傳承性。陳之佛先生從中國的文化美學出發,將近代東西方的設計審美相互融合,以其批評標準精確地診斷出中國近代設計的弊病所在,並身體力行地為中國近代設計指引了一個新方向,推動了近現代設計批評的發展,同時亦傳承並發揚了中國的文化美學,為中國傳統審美文化賦予了新的意義。

Mr. Chen Zhifo is a modern Chinese design educator and the founder of design theory research. He is also the promoter of Chinese culture and aesthetics. For the first time, this study attempts to construct the design thought of Mr. Chen Zhifo from the perspective of design criticism. This study is based on Chen Zhifo's life story, his design works, the economic, cultural, technological and political environment in which Chen lives. And based on his articles, speeches and monographs published between 1928 and 1962. This paper studies the critical thinking of design presented between the lines in Mr. Chen's article, and the evaluation criteria of his ideas of design criticism are summarized as follows: applicability, economy, aesthetics, creativity and inheritance. The five criteria are flexible, independent and organic. Mr. Chen Zhifo from the perspective of aesthetics of Chinese culture, the modern design of eastern and western aesthetic mutual confluence, to its criticism standard accurately diagnosed maladies of China's modern design, and physically for the Chinese modern design to guide a new direction, to promote the development of modern design criticism and at the same time inheriting and carrying forward the Chinese culture aesthetics, gives a new meaning for the Chinese traditional aesthetic culture.
