On 17th May 2019, the Legislative Yuan enacted to enforce the Act for Implementation of J.Y. Interpretation No. 748. Taiwan became the first country in Asia to perform same-sex marriages. According to the research conducted by Academia Sinica in 2016, 2.85% and 5.21% of the population age between 24 and 29 in northern Taiwan are gay males and lesbians, respectively. Meanwhile, military recruitment's target demography comes to a similar age range, indicating the necessity of addressing gender diversity in the military. This paper concludes the difficulties facing by the LGBT population in the military through the case study, including gender performance, identity, interpersonal and family relationships, and work pressure. The author utilizes the three-stage model, which involves exploration, insight, and action, to propose practical solutions that are compatible with military counseling and management.
