The Development and Content of Chinese Language Textbook used by Chinese National Type Primary Schools in 1960s-2000s

摘要


马来西亚的华文教育问题一直都是各界关注的课题,但是对华文教育的内容,尤其是对华文科课本的研究却是很少。本文旨在通过分析从1960年代至2000年代马来西亚华文小学通用的华文课本的变化与发展,一窥这些年来华文教育的改变与发展。研究发现华小的华文教学,不论是教学目标、课文内容或技巧都有很大的变化。早期的教学较注重文化传承,后期的教学则趋向技术化,更接近第二语文教学。这也反映了马来西亚的社会(尤其华人社会)和教育政策的改变。

Chinese language education has always been a public concern in Malaysia, however, research about the content of Chinese language education, especially about textbooks are rare. This article wish to explore the changes and development in the Chinese language education from 1960s through to 2000s, through analyzing the textbooks commonly used in the Chinese National Type Schools in the same period. It was found that there are numerous changes and developments reflecting the changes in the Malaysia society (especially in the Chinese community) and education policies. The earlier textbooks are more concern with transmission of Chinese culture, while teaching in the later period has become more technical and more like second language teaching.
