The civilian Xiao family (萧氏) was the main marriage object of the first three generations of Yutian Han family (玉田韩氏) in the Liao Dynast. However, from the fourth generation, Han Kuangsi (韩匡嗣) family intermarried merely with Xiao(萧氏) from the queen's family, and his brothers' descendants intermarried mainly with the aristocratic families of the Han people. The Khitan royal family and the empress family are two stable intermarriage groups, the various aristocratic families of the Han people also united by marriage. A huge in-laws group was established among the Khitan royal family, the empress family and the aristocratic families of the Han people through the direct or indirect linkage of Yutian Han family. The purpose that the Khitan Emperor brought the Yutian Han family into the royal family was to rely on it to bring the Khitan nobles and the Han aristocratic families into an alliance of in-laws. This in-laws group is also a political alliance to control the Liao regime which played a very important role in sustaining the longevity of the Liao Dynasty.
