The Battlefield Party and Government Committee was a joint organization of the Party, Government and Army which was subordinate to the Military Committee of the Nationalist Government in charge of the work in the occupied areas during the Anti-Japanese War. Its original purpose was to counterbalance the colonial rule of Japan and to coordinate the relations between the two parties and the two armies in the field. The Battlefield Party and Government Committee was formally established in March 1939, branches had been set up in all war zones and border areas by the first half of 1940. The Battlefield Party and Government Committee members also set up some temporary organs together with other functional departments. In order to strengthen the political penetration and control of the occupied areas, the Committee is committed to the construction of the grass - roots political power and the unity of the party and government affairs, intensifing cultural, educational and publicity work, strengthening the organization and training of the people. After the outbreak of the Pacific War, the change of situation of the War of Resistance against Japan, the inefficacies of the work and the ineffective anti-Communist efforts made the Committees end hastily.
