The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation of propolis (a resinous mixture that honey bees collected from tree buds, sap flows, or other botanical sources) extract on growth performance and carcass traits in Pekin ducks. There were three different treatments in this experiment which were (1) control group (basal diet), (2) basal diet with 200 ppm propolis extract and (3) basal diet with 400 ppm propolis extract. A total of one hundred and eighty Pekin ducks were assigned randomly to nine pens creating three replicates of three experimental treatments; each pen had equal number of male and female ducks. The experiment lasted for 12 weeks. The results indicated that body weight, feed conversion ratio and feed intake among the groups in all periods were not significantly different. There were no differences on carcass weight, dressing percentage or fat pad weight. In conclusion, the dietary supplementation of propolis extract had no effect on the growth performance and carcass traits in Pekin ducks.
