On the Legal Implications of Sea Level Rise on Baseline and Its Countermeasures
摘要
Climate change poses a grave threat to human survival and development, and sea level rise is one of its most serious consequences. Sea level rise will directly affect the baselines of the States concerned, resulting in baseline delineations that no longer correspond to the actual situation and may cause numerous issues. In such cases, it is particularly important to study the legal impacts of sea level rise on the baseline and to respond to them. Based on the analysis of the correlation between sea level rise and baselines, this paper discusses the legal impact of sea level rise on baselines and the dilemma of coping with it, reviews two current coping paths, and considers relevant strategies for coping with the impact of sea level rise on baselines in China.
