EMI教學模式導入國小工程創客課程:以MicroBit機器人為例

EMI model integrated into Engineering-Based Maker Curriculum: An Example of MicroBit Robot

摘要


本研究旨在分析全英語教學(EMI)對於國小學童在英語學習與專業知識上的影響力。本研究採準實驗研究前後測設計達,研究對象為參與五天工程創客冬令營的26名國小學童,實驗組為全英語教學,控制組為半英式教學。工程創客主題為MicroBit機器人,學童在學習過程中須撰寫程式控制機器人。研究結果發現,全英語教學環境較能提昇學生的英文能力、程式編寫能力與電機工程概念。

The study aimed to examine the effect of EMI model on English learning and professional knowledge for elementary school students. The study adopted quasi-experimental pre-and post-test design. Research subjects were 26 elementary school students who participated in 8-day engineering maker winter camp. EMI model was used in the experimental group. The control group only received non-EMI model. The learning unit of engineering maker was MicroBit robot. During learning process, students needed to program their robots. The research results indicated that EMI model might significantly improve students' English proficiency, programming ability, and electrical engineering concepts.
