We are living in a multi-religious and multi-cultural society filled with conflicts and violence that have been generated under the name of religion. Buddhism is interacted with multi-cultural traditions and advocates the compassion towards all sentient beings. In Buddhist stories, animals should not be killed even in a life-or-death situation. Buddhism follows the universal morality of kindness, non-killing and compassion which could be the guidance to resolve religious and cultural conflicts in the contemporary society. To begin with, this paper discusses the conflicts among contemporary societies with different cultural and religious backgrounds, and then focuses on the attitude of Buddhism towards conflicts and violence. Finally, solutions to potential conflicts faced by Buddhism in this globalized society are analyzed.
