Both the concepts of human realm and the world play an important role in the Buddhist teachings. Although the Prajñāpāramitā-sūtras contain valuable teachings about human realm and the world, these teachings have long been neglected by most scholars of Buddhist studies. Mainly based on the Prajñāpāramitā-sūtras , this paper critically reflects on current approaches to conceptualizing human realm and the world. Moreover, in terms of space horizon, this paper explores the ways in which the reality of both human realm and the world is demonstrated in the Prajñāpāramitā-sūtras. The purpose of this philosophical inquiry is to promote the multidisciplinary venture between philosophy and the academic study of Buddhism, and therefore to provide a better framework for approaching human realm and the world.
