Learning Loss During COVID-19 Pandemic: A Snapshot From Students, Teachers and Parents

COVID-19 provides an opportunity to redesign a better education for all by replacing an archaic education system. A school restructuring that is capable of responding and adapting to these complicated times is required especially related to learning loss issues. Thus, this exploratory research aims to capture the initial perspectives of students', teachers', and parents' experiences with remote teaching and learning, as well as their perspectives on the quality of education during the COVID-19 pandemic. From October 2020 to May 2021, students, teachers, and parents were interviewed online and triangulated to identify themes indicating learning loss and the quality of education. This study discovered a lack of engagement during remote teaching and learning due to a lack of connection and students' constant absence during online classes. During the pandemic, parents' involvement in their children's schooling was significant, especially in terms of providing support and resources to ensure that the children did not fall behind. A diagnostic test is required to measure the amount of learning during the epidemic, allowing teachers to create remedial strategies to compensate for learning loss. It is critical to identify students' needs and provide assistance in order to encourage more active engagement by students.
