明清插圖本《三國演義》圖像視覺元素之探討

A Study on the Visual Elements of Images in Various Illustrated Editions of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms from Ming and Qing Dynasties

摘要


本研究比對了明清時期《三國演義》書中之插圖,發現有許多刊本的圖像相當類似,但又因畫工、刻工的不同而有不同的詮釋風格與手法,因此將此異同處定為關切的重點。本研究透過內容分析法比較與分析其視覺元素的使用狀況,整理研究發現如下:《三國演義》的敘事插圖在版式、構圖和線條會因刻坊特色和順應時代潮流而有所變化。在圖像內容方面經整理歸納後,發現書中為了協助讀者辨別角色的身份地位,對人物形象的刻繪在造形和姿態上出現了模式化的設計規律。從這些插畫的整理可了解,插畫家如果對所繪內容嚴謹考究,讓讀者從畫中認識歷史上的各種服飾造形、傳統禮制或時代生活特色,也算是為文化傳承奉獻了一點小小的心力。

This study compares the illustrations in various editions of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms from Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is discovered that the images in many editions are rather similar but the interpretation styles and approaches appear different as a result of dissimilar drawing and carving techniques. For this reason, the similarities and differences are defined as key areas of concern. By adopting content analysis to examine the visual elements applied, the following findings are established in this study. The formats, designs and lines of the descriptive illustrations in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms vary as a consequence of the characteristics of each carver's workshop and social circumstances. After the image details are sorted out, it becomes obvious that there are regular patterns in design of the styling and postures of each character to help readers identify its status.
