封包聚合在無線網狀網路上的實作

摘要


無線網狀網路是未來第四代行動通訊目前重要的技術之一,在無線網狀網路中,隨著使用者數目的不斷增加和提供的應用越來越多,在無線網狀網路傳遞大量的小封包,使得維持無線網狀網路的效能是一大挑戰。為提升無線網狀網路的效能,很多的研究,都朝著改變路由,和改變物理層(PHY Layer)傳輸方式,用不同的調變方式及改變現有的802.11標準去提升網路效能。在本篇論文中,我們在現有的802.11標準下實作了一個新的封包處理的方法,將小封包聚合在一起,進而漸少封包傳送的次數和封包多餘的標頭。根據本篇論文實驗結果,當封包大小不大時,使用本篇論文所提之方法,能大幅提升無線網狀網路的效能。本篇研究可有效的減少無線網狀網路上傳遞大量小封包所帶來的問題。

Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) has been foreseen as a key technology for next-generation wireless networking. In wireless mesh networks, with the ever-increasing number of users and applications, maintaining the effectiveness of the network operation is a big challenge. In order to enhancing the effectiveness of the network, a lot of research works focus on enhancing the routing protocol, and the physical layer (PHY Layer) rate adaptation to improve network performance. In this thesis, we present a network level enhancement over the 802.11 wireless mesh networks. The proposed scheme is a new packet processing mechanism that will aggregate small packets to reduce the number of packets transmitted, and to avoid redundant packet headers. In this thesis, the experimental results show that the proposed scheme can significantly improve the network performance. The proposed packet aggregation scheme can effectively reduce the transmission overhead and successfully enhance the network efficiency when there are many small data packets are transmitted in the network.
