Reliable Communications over Acoustic Channels Using Data Hiding and Error Control Techniques

摘要


我們提出了一個可以透過喇叭傳遞資訊給周遭使用者的單向通訊系統,儘管這樣的通訊方式先天受限於不高的傳輸距離和流量,但卻有免費以及高相容性的優點,因為只需要常見的錄放音裝置,如麥克風及喇叭,以及手機或筆記型電腦等行動裝置,便可以輕易的利用聲音通道來傳遞資訊。相對於其他類似功用的系統來說,像是二維條碼或是基於影像的浮水印技術,我們的系統可以提供使用者較不擾人及較方便的存取方式。就我們所知,我們提出的系統是第一個能提供合理的流量、容錯性以及傳輸距離的聲音通訊系統,在常見的環境噪音底下亦能有良好的表現。此外,我們也提出了幾種有趣且實際的應用和商業模式,讓此系統更具實用價值。

We propose a reliable unidirectional communication system capable of delivering information from audio speakers to nearby audience via acoustic channels. Though constrained by the short transmission distance and low data throughput of sound waves, communications based on acoustic channels can be regarded as a cost-free message delivery scheme because music playback systems and handheld devices equipped with recording capabilities are ubiquitous in our life. Furthermore, the proposed approach can provide better non-intrusiveness and more convenient user access than other auxiliary information delivery approaches, such as 2-D barcodes or watermarking schemes for visual contents. To the best of our knowledge, the proposed system is the first one that can effectively deliver information to receivers at feasible transmission throughput/robustness/distance within common noisy environments. Various interesting applications and new business models can be facilitated with the proposed scheme.
