Nafion/ZSM-5複合材料於直接甲醇燃料電池 質子交換膜之應用

摘要


燃料電池因具有高發電效率、低汙染及低噪音等優點,故成為近年來熱門的發電技術之一。而能在低溫操作之質子交換膜燃料電池是可攜帶式燃料電池中最受矚目的,但受限於高效能之儲氫材料尚未成功開發,故以甲醇取代氫氣作為燃料的直接甲醇燃料電池就成了另一個重要的開發目標。然而,由於質子交換膜需要適當的保水性以維持質子傳導度,且甲醇燃料經由交換膜滲透從陽極流向陰極,造成陰極嚴重極化,降低了電池的性能。 本研究嘗試在Nafion溶液中摻入ZSM-5沸石,製備Nafion/ZSM-5複合膜以應用於直接甲醇燃料電池,希望降低質子交換膜的甲醇穿透率,並保有質子傳導度。本研究第一部分為ZSM-5沸石的合成,沸石的合成方式是以TPAOH做為模板試劑,並以TEOS做為矽源,利用不同的水矽比以改變沸石粒徑。第二部分為複合膜的製備,複合膜是以溶劑揮發法製成,並比較不同的負載方式對複合膜之甲醇穿透率與質子傳導度所造成的影響。 ZSM-5材料以掃描式電子顯微鏡、氮氣吸脫附、X光繞射、傅立葉轉換紅外線光譜來進行型態與成分的分析。複合膜的剖面形貌則藉由掃描式電子顯微鏡來觀察,以交流阻抗和甲醇擴散實驗分析其質子傳導度與甲醇穿透率。

Direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) has been considered as a highly efficient power source for portable devices like cell phones, computers and vehicles. In order to achieve high power density, high methanol concentration is necessary. One of the main drawbacks of DMFCs applications is methanol crossover through proton-exchange membrane, which lowers down the cell potential, deactivates the cathode catalyst and therefore exerts a negative influence on the cell performance. In this study, the Nafion/ZSM-5 composite membranes were prepared by solution cast method using DE520 NafionR dispersion in N,N’-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) and ZSM-5 of different particle sizes. The composite membranes were characterized by proton conductivity, MeOH permeability, and SEM. The composite membrane showed lower methanol permeability and higher selectivity than casting Nafion membrane.
