This essay focuses on homeless people who try to survive on the streets. This essay concerns why people become homeless, how they live on the streets and what the reason the homeless can't return into society. Through observing and in-depth interviewing on homelessness in Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung, this essay attempts to understand homelessness in different ways. This in-depth reporting finds that mainstream society has negative impressions on homeless people, laws and policies from government do not fit the needs of homeless people. Therefore, homeless people's subsistence rights are always oppressed. This in-depth reporting argues that understanding homelessness is the first step in solving problems of the homeless. The mainstream society in Taiwan should think the issues of homelessness form different perspectives. The solution to homeless problem could be found out if people do not ignore homeless people in their community.
