這篇論文提出一套可以有效降低視線停滯時間(Dwell time)的視線互 動介面,稱為GazeShutter,藉由視線在螢幕內容與螢幕邊緣的引導間 的來回運動,點擊選取螢幕上目標。比起過去視線停留在目標一段時 間選取目標的方法,可以更有效地進行點擊,並減少誤觸的可能性。 GazeShutter介面保留螢幕上原有內容,把觸發點移到視窗外(off- screen),並參考Halo視覺化的方法在螢幕邊緣呈現弧形引導,暗示使 用者可以在該方向進行視線的來回運動。 我們透過實驗了解不同距離 的目標以及不同方向的視線運動,可能對來回視線運動造成的影響, 並發現距離對操作時間顯著影響而方向則無。基於以上實驗結果得 到的設計方針,我們利用頭戴眼動儀實作GazeShutter介面在平板電腦 上,並展現眼動互動的可行性。
We propose GazeShutter, a gaze-only input method, which allows users to select targets by performing gaze gesture instead of dwelling. Users select the target on screen by looking target on-screen and target off-screen back and forth. Our method is considered more efficient than conventional dwell- time selection method. The interface of GazeShutter is designed to preserve the contents on screen and utilize Halo system to visualize button off-screen. We conduct the first study to recognize that distance has a significant impact on performing time, though direction doesn’t. Based on the design impli- cations from the observations, we implemented GazeShutter in practice to demonstrate the benefits of our method.
