In this study, Wistar rats were fed with three differentβ-glucan extracted from Ganoderma lucidum, Antrodia camphorata, and Schizophyllum commune. After 1 month experimental period, rats were sacrificed for the activity of natural killer cells and cytokine analysis. The result demonstrated that the activity of natural killer cells in rats fedβ-glucan extracted from Ganoderma lucidum and Schizophyllum commune were significantly higher than control group(P<0.05). The activity of natural killer cells in rats fedβ-glucan extracted from Antrodia camphorata was significantly higher than control group in the 1st three weeks. In addition, IFN-γof rats fed different β-glucan were significantly higher than control group(P<0.05). IL-2 of rats fedβ-glucan extracted from Ganoderma lucidum and Schizophyllum commune were significantly higher than control group(P<0.05). IL-2 of rats fedβ-glucan extracted from Antrodia camphorata had no significant(P<0.05)different with the control group. IL-12 of rats fedβ-glucan extracted from Ganoderma lucidum and Schizophyllum commune were significantly higher than control group(P<0.05)on the 6th and 3rd day respectively, and IL-12 of rats fed β-glucan extracted from Antrodia camphorata had no significant(P<0.05)different with the control group. TNF-αof rats fedβ-glucan extracted from Ganoderma lucidum and Schizophyllum commune were significantly higher compared to that of the control rats(P<0.05)on the 6th and 10th day respectively, and that of rats fed β-glucan extracted from Antrodia camphorata had no significant(P<0.05)different with the control group.
