本論文以「臺北音樂會」為研究的主體,並以其「新公園音樂堂奏樂」,為焦點,包含「臺北音樂會」的起源、發展狀況及其演出、活動情形,「新公園音樂堂奏樂」歷史背景與曲目整理分析,選曲與節目安排之傾向。主要利用當時刊載於「臺灣日日新報」上關於「臺北音樂會」的訊息,及「新公園音樂堂奏樂」的曲目表,輔以總督府出版品及其他相關資料,勾勒出「臺北音樂會」與「新公園音樂堂奏樂」的樣貌。 「臺北音樂會」在時常各種儀式、節慶、活動中演出,尤其1909到1941年間,每年五月至十月周末舉行的「新公園音樂堂奏樂」活動,更是該樂團的重要工作。三十餘年的曲目內容與其演變,也可以看出「臺北音樂會」以推廣西洋音樂為主,演奏日本音樂為次,以及戰爭導致日本音樂比例大幅度上升,超越西洋音樂的結果。
"Taipei Band” and “New Park Open Air Concert Hall” concerts are the center of this thesis. How "Taipei Band” was established, developed, and, the performances, activities of the group, along with the historical background and repertoire of the “New Park Open Air Concert Hall” concerts, are to be investigate. The local news paper at the time is the main source of the band’s information and repertoire. Also, government publications will be reference materials as well. "Taipei Band” played in many different kinds of occasions, such as ceremonies, festivals and gatherings. And, the “New Park Open Air Concert Hall” concerts, once a week approximately from May to October every year, since 1909 until 1941. The repertoire show that "Taipei Band” was intent to promote western music in the first place, Japanese music the next. However, as the war goes, the percentage of Japanese music played was largely increased, exceeded western music.
