The main purpose of this thesis was to investigate the change of the landslide by monitoring the spectral characteristics in Chitou area during 1994-2003. First of all, using 11 SPOT images drew the distribution of the landslide in different periods in Chitou area. Then we discussed the area of the landslide over the years and the condition of its location change. At the same time, we also discussed the frequency of the landslide by overlap analysis in different times. The result showed that the main cause of the dramatically increasing landslide in Chitou area was the 921 earthquake in 1999 and Tauchi Typhoon in 2001. In addition, we analyzed some extraordinary plots through the concept of relative NDVI to realize the restoration of the vegetation in landslide area in order to monitor the restoration in the future.
