我們設計降冰片烯與薁的2號與6號位置相連接的兩種單體,並且運用降冰片烯雙鍵經過開環歧化聚合反應製備聚合物。薁是典型多環系統的非苯環性芳香環,其特殊的共振結構導致此分子具有較大的偶極矩及非線性光學性質,故在降冰片烯高分子骨架上引入具此偶極的基團薁,藉以了解懸掛基團對高分子光物理性質之影響 不論是單體或者聚合物在紫外-可見光光譜中,皆可以觀察到薁分子與對胺苯甲酸酯典型的吸收。將所得到的聚合物水解,經由核磁共振光譜可鑑定出聚合物的立體化學結構為全反式雙鍵全同向且全同立體排列。 利用超瑞利散射實驗,隨著聚合物分子量的增加,非線性光學性質也會隨之增加,此現象說明了降冰片烯的剛性骨架使發光團朝著同一方向的排列。
