Parametric Modification of Solid Model

Most solid model systems available in the market are using parametric modeling approach, which relies on a large number of import information. Even though this approach can reduce the difficulties of design and improve the manufacturing precision, the restriction of design alteration and the inconvenience of file exchanges are gradually encountered in the globalization trend of processing industry today. Therefore, the non-parametric modeling approach began to rise recently. This kind of modeling approach can adjust the outer shape of entities rapidly in the absence of original building history and feature dimension, thus making it become the trend of future CAD/CAM systems. This study proposes a number of methods to modify de-parametric entities in parametric ways, trying to adjust the outer shape of entities by tweaking faces, edges and points of entities directly, and attempt to implement in Spring Solid System.
