行動通訊系統在九零年代興起,發展至今,行動電話已成為人們日常生活的一部份,在台灣,其普及率早已超過百分之百;寬頻網路伴隨著網際網路的興起,則改變了人們的生活型態,無線寬頻網路的出現,使寬頻網路引入了移動性(Portability),更引起人們對於寬頻網路行動性(Mobility)的期待。這兩大網路系統在科技進步與市場需求的驅動下,「行動網路寬頻化,寬頻網路行動化」已是大勢所趨。在這股趨勢下,由無線寬頻網路發展而來的新興技術WiMAX與第三代行動通訊系統(3G)之間的競合,在這波「行動寬頻互聯網」的產業整合中格外引起各方注目。本研究試圖對在行動寬頻互聯網的整合中,對WiMAX與3G之間的競合作分析,並提出行動寬頻互聯網的產業分析與發展策略。 本研究將先從行動通訊網路與無線寬頻網路的發展源流,探討其成功關鍵並分析其目前的發展瓶頸,接下來針對二者網路的特性,提出行動寬頻互聯網的整合情境,包括了由WiMAX結合Wi-Fi,提供行動寬頻互聯網的接取技術,或者由3G +3.5G整合WiMAX+Wi-Fi,作為行動寬頻互聯網接取技術。在關鍵技術競合的分析方面,本研究將從成本、技術優勢與應用服務型態三方面,進行WiMAX與3G的競合分析。在行動寬頻互聯網產業發展方面,本研究將從行動通訊網與無線寬頻網的特性,提出行動寬頻互聯網的產業分析,包括產業結構、產業價值鏈的分析,以及產業現況的整理。最後,本研究更將從搭載在行動行動寬頻互聯網上的行動網路服務(MoISP, Mobile Internet Service Provider)角度出發,探討其商機所在並提出策略發展的分析。
The mobile communication system started to be booming since 90th and has become part of people’s life in the world now already. In Taiwan, the penetration ratio of mobile system has been more than 100%; with the development of Internet, broadband network service has change people’s life style in the world as well. The introduction of broadband wireless system (WLAN) gives portability to broadband network service. It also gives people the expectation of the mobility for the wireless broadband network service. These two networking systems are driven by the technology improvement and market requirement to be a trend that mobile system needs to be with more “broadband” characteristics and wireless broadband system needs to be with more mobility. The co-opetition (cooperation & competition) of WiMAX, which is the newest technology in the evolution of broadband wireless system, and 3rd generation mobile communication system is attracting eyes in the industry. This research attempts to make analysis of the co-opetition (cooperation & competition) and 3G, then propose the industrial analysis and development strategy of the newly formed “mobile wireless broadband network” industry. This research will start from the evolution study of mobile communication system and wireless broadband network for the key factors of their succeed and bottleneck at current point as well, then propose the possible merging scenarios of mobile wireless broadband network, including scenario of WiMAX+Wi-Fi and the scenario of 3G+3.5G integrating WiMAX+Wi-Fi. Regarding the co-opetition between WiMAX and 3G, cost analysis, technology advantage analysis, application service analysis will be made. Also the industrial analysis of mobile wireless broadband network will be made in industrial structure, industrial value chain, and industrial situation aspects based on the characteristics of mobile system and wireless broadband system. At last the business opportunity and development strategy of MoISP, mobile internet service provider which is the network service on the top of mobile wireless broadband network, will be proposed in this research.
