This thesis includes three parts : (a) an introduction to the theory of quasi-phase matched optical parametric oscillator (QPM OPO), (b) the design and fabrication of one-dimensional periodically poled congruent grown LiNbO3 (1D-PPCLN) with multi-grating periods for constructing a 1064 nm Nd:YVO4 laser pumped optical parametric oscillator (OPO), and (c) the implementation of a quasi-phase matched optical parametric oscillator system and second harmonic generation (SHG) experiment. First, the theory of quasi-phase matching and optical parametric oscillation will be introduced in the second chapter. In the second part, the home-built high voltage poling system and the fabrication of periodically poled lithium niobate will be introduced. A PPLN with 2cm effective length was fabricated. It had eight different grating periods ranging from 28.5 to 29.9
