In recent years, social innovation in Taiwan has flourished, and more and more organizations understand that cooperation can exert greater impact. Therefore, many cross-sector and cross-organizational social alliances have emerged. Social alliances provide opportunities for governments and enterprises to invest in social innovation. Through the cooperation of these resource-owned institutions and social innovation organizations, resources can be used in a more efficient manner and social impact can be expanded. In the social innovation ecosystem in Taiwan, there are also many organizations with different functions, such as social enterprise venture capital, social innovation accelerator, etc., which assist social innovation organizations through various types of intermediary activities. However, there are few related studies on social alliances and intermediary activities in Taiwan. This study hopes to understand how social alliances and intermediary activities in these social innovation ecosystems to assist Taiwanese social innovation organizations change society. So, they can use these ways to obtain the required resources according to their own needs in a faster and more effective way in the future. Therefore, this study selects three social innovation organizations in Taiwan for case studies. This study conducts a holistic study on the factors affecting the formation of social alliances, the factors affecting the performance of social alliances, the influence of intermediary activities on social alliances, and the influence of intermediary activities on the social innovation organizations itself. The study finds that the formation of social alliances in Taiwan is affected by alliance motivation and network participation, while the performance of social alliances is affected by partner fit and relational mechanisms. The performance of social alliances on social innovation organizations is reflected in establishing business model, expanding organizational scale, improving operational efficiency and scaling social impact. Intermediary activities can increase the chances of forming social alliances and improve alliance performance through interacting with the community and pitching resources. It can also recognize the ways that social alliances use to solve social problems, and increasing the trust and support of partners to scale social impact. The influence of intermediary activities on the performance of social innovation organizations is mainly reflected in social capital and intangible resources. Different types of intermediary activities can affect social alliances in different ways, and also have different influences on the performance of social innovation organizations.
