管理領域學術會議論文延伸出版之研究

The Study of the Conference Papers Extended Publishing in Field of Management

摘要

本研究主要目的為探討管理領域會議論文延伸出版的現象，利用書目計量法分析延伸出版的數量與比率、文獻類型、延伸出版型態、出版時間與轉投至期刊的時滯，並比較原始會議論文與延伸版本在作者身份、參考文獻、篇幅、圖表等數量上的變化。研究對象為科技部「管理二」學門推薦之行銷、生管、交管、資管領域的九個國際學術會議，於2011年所出版的2,427篇會議論文。
研究結果顯示：會議論文延伸出版的現象方面，管理領域整體延伸出版的比率平均為17.06%；延伸出版的文獻類型有79.1%為期刊論文；延伸出版的型態共有12種，其中延伸出版成1篇期刊論文占75.36%；延伸版本揭露的方式中，有68.42%於附註中標示其為延伸版本。會議論文延伸出版的時間方面，延伸至期刊的出版時間有70.35%分布於原始會議論文出版後13至48個月；延伸至其他研討會的出版時間有61.11%分布於原始會議論文出版後1至12個月；投稿至期刊的時滯有82.46%分布於原始會議論文出版後1至24個月。原始會議論文與延伸版本的差異方面，原始會議論文與延伸版本之間有51.81%的作者角色產生變化、88.27%的主要作者未產生變化；77.23%的延伸版本增加參考文獻，延伸書目對強度集中於10.01%至30%之間；從原始會議論文至延伸出版的期刊論文之間有95.16%的篇幅增加，從原始會議論文至延伸出版的會議論文之間則有54.41%的篇幅增加；從原始會議論文至延伸版本之間有69.47%的圖與表合計數量增加。
根據研究結果所提出之建議包括：學術出版單位可制訂延伸出版的相關規範；期刊編輯應確認稿件是否為延伸版本，並確實遵循徵稿須知及編輯政策等相關規範；圖書館可彙整相關研究，並製作延伸出版的參考指引；研究者應確實增加延伸版本的內容，避免產生學術不端的行為。

The purpose of this study was to investigate the extended publishing of conference papers in the field of management. This study adopted bibliometrics to analyze the extended publishing rate of the original conference papers, the document types of the extended publications, and the time lag from the original conference papers to extended versions publishing. The differences between the original conference papers and extended publications were also compared, including the changes in authorship, references, the length of articles, and the number of tables and figures. The sample examined consisted of a total of 2,427 conference papers that were published in 2011 in nine international conferences spanning four academic fields, which were marketing, production and operations management, transportation management, and information management.
The results of the study reveal that:
(1) The average extended publishing rate of the original conference papers was 23.13%, comprising 12 publishing types, with journal articles being the major category. 75.36% of the original conference papers were later published as a journal article. Among the ways to expose the extended version of conference papers, 68.42% of the extended publications included notes to acknowledge that they were of extended publications.
(2) Of the extended journal articles, 70.35% were published between 13 and 18 months after the original conference papers presentations. Of the extended conference papers, 61.11% were published between 1 and 12 months after the original conference papers presentations. On average, the time lag from original conference papers to journal submission were mostly between 1 and 24 months after the original conference papers presentations; the proportion was 82.46%.
(3) Regarding the changes between the original conference papers and the extended publications, 51.81% of the extended publications changed the number of authors and the order of authorship, but 88.27% of them had the same first and corresponding authors as those in the original conference papers. In addition, 77.23% of the extended publications included new references, and the strength of extended bibliographic coupling ranged between 10.01% and 30%. Another change observed was the length of the articles, with 95.16% of the extended journal articles and 54.41% of the extended conference papers increasing in length. Finally, 69.47% of the extended versions of conference papers involved more tables and figures.
The suggestions based on the findings of this study are as followed:
(1) The academic publishers provide relevant publication policy for extended publication.
(2) The journal editors should confirm whether the manuscript is an extended version of a conference paper, and follow the guideline for submission and the editorial policy.
(3) The librarians provide the collection of the relevant extended studies and the reference guides for extended publication.
(4) Researchers should add new content to the extended version to avoid academic misconduct.
