西門異域-權力下的西門考古學
Ximen heterotopias- under the power of Ximenting archeology
摘要
本設計論文的嘗試起於有感異質空間(heterotopia)的形態遍布於日常生活 中，甚至是在旅行經驗裡，異質化的空間堆疊穿雜於不同場域，使人於不同位 址常有不同的感受氛圍，形成邊緣化或異質化的空間，因此透過傅柯 (Michel Foucault)「論其他空間」的論述，以及對知識與權力的探討，運用考 古學的方法，將台北做為一個權力與知識下空間化的閱讀文本，目的是表現 出隱藏在西門町下的歷史，以利用慣用的再現手法與對權威的擾動，試圖重 現不可見的西門歷史以及與對可見的公權力批判。 本論文以西門地區做為規畫範圍，將隱藏在都市中的權力脈絡以傅柯考古 的方法，發掘出一套西門考古策略，透過三種不同的都市尺度(L、M、S)，提 出一連串對都市的反動與再現。都市L尺寸: 以西門整體區域為西門考古策略的 範圍，將隱藏的權力點與線再現異質，考掘出城市中的歷史脈絡，並在這樣的 權力策略中，置入權力盒子(hyper boxes)，架構出西門權力的網絡；都市M尺 寸:以西門圓環周遭為範圍，使之定位與分析，去探索空間設計的其他可能性； 都市S尺寸:以西門圓環為基地而發展設計，做為擾動與再現西門權力的據點。 本研究所建構的設計，不論是hyper boxes或是西門圓環，除了符合使用者 機能、解決基地現有問題外，同時展現出西門地區過去到現在的權力脈絡，以 及未來人與權力的可能性。此研究提出一種以新的分析方法，去探索城市各層 面的不同面向，未來也許可以利用此方法，去探討其他類似的城市，讓都市空 間有更多樣的設計，讓廢棄空間有更多元的使用，締造一個有記憶溫度的城市。

This research is motivated by the heterotopia space (a concept of “other spaces” created by Michel Foucault) that is commonly found in daily life, even in the travel experiences. The heterotopia space is stacked and mingled in different fields that people usually have different feeling and atmosphere at different sites to form marginalized or heterogeneous space. Based on Michel Foucault's discourse in his “Of Other Spaces: Utopias and Heterotopias” and his study on the knowledge and power, the research applies the archeological method to take Taipei City (especially Ximenting) as a spatial context to explore. The purpose is to represent invisibility hidden in the history of Ximenting, and then to establish the criticism on the visible public power through the recurrence and the disturbance to the authority. We excavate a set of archeological strategies from the power context hidden in Ximenting with Michel Foucault's archeological method. Through three different urban scales (Large, Medium, Small) in Ximenting, we propose a series of the reactions and recurrence of this city. Large scale (L): With the whole Ximenting area as the range of the archeological strategy, it represents the heterotopia space of the hidden power points and lines through excavating the historical context of Taipei City. We also put the power boxes (called hyper boxes) under such strategy to provide the network of Ximen power. Medium scale (M): with the surrounding of Ximen circle as the range, we program and analyze the area to explore the spatial possibilities. Small scale (S): we take the Ximen circle as the base to develop design to disturb and represent the Ximen power. The design outcome (including urban strategies, hyper boxes and Ximen circle) provides a solution for user' functions and solves the existing spatial problems in Ximenting area. In the meantime, it unveils, excavates and represents the power context from the past time to the present time, and then proposes a new relationship between people and power in the city. Additionally, the research proposes a new analytical method to explore various aspects of the city. The method will help us to explore other similar cities not only to find more diverse design possibilities in urban but also to create a more humanity city than before.
