This study aim to examine whether Facebook users who own different personality traits can keep relationships by using Facebook to evaluate psychological-well-being. The researchers recruited 842 college students in Taiwan to fill in the questionnaires and explored the mediation effect of “maintaining relationships by using Facebook” between extraversion, emotion stability, and psychological-well-being. The results indicate that only the relationship between extraversion and psychological well-being was partially mediated by “maintaining relationships through Facebook” while relationship between emotion stability and psychological well-being was not. Further study can keep focusing on what kind of usage for Facebook users of low emotion stability evaluating psychological-well-being and examine whether this result can be replicated on other social media like Instagram or Line.
