香港反修例運動在兩岸媒體中的再現

本研究以香港反修例運動在兩岸報紙上的再現為主題，從報導方式、消息來源、報導主題、報導傾向、新聞框架等方面比較兩岸媒體間的異同，並結合過往的研究，討論雙方共同遮蔽或凸顯了哪些議題，哪些因素介入其中。本研究發現，兩岸報紙的報導呈現出「民主對抗威權」、「暴力與反暴力」、「外國干預」三種話語的競爭：大陸報紙以「反暴力」、「反對外國干預」的話語消解民主抗爭運動的正當性，台灣媒體則以「民主對抗威權」吸納另外兩種話語。因而，雖然兩岸報紙共同凸顯了運動中暴力衝突以及外部因素的影響，但具體的意涵有著明顯的差別。大陸報紙受制於新聞管理制度表現出高度的統一，都市報在報導議題上並未超出黨報的範圍，而在報導傾向上也保持一致。相較而言，台灣報紙更為多元，表現出顯著的報導傾向差別，但這種差別亦與各報所持的政治傾向吻合。與此同時，兩岸報紙對於反修例運動的內部原因，即香港社會的政治經濟不平等、貧富差距懸殊問題，皆缺乏充分的討論。大陸報紙在反對暴力抗爭、外部干預時，台灣報紙在反對暴力鎮壓、支持民主運動時，都缺乏對各自立場的反思：一方不斷強調穩定、主權的重要性，忽視社會的深層問題以及抗爭的合理訴求；一方則高呼民主自由將香港問題全部歸咎於威權干預，而不討論政治以外的經濟民生的問題。

Taking ‘the 2019-2020 Hong Kong Protests’ as a case study, this thesis explores how the press across the Taiwan Strait covered this event. In all, nine episodes occurring between June and November 2019 were picked up and eight newspapers, four from the Mainland and four from Taiwan, were analysed. As can be expected, there is a high degree of rhetoric similarities among the four dailies published in the Mainland. Anti-violence and anti-foreign intervention were invoked to dissolve or displace the legitimacy of democratic opposition to the authority. In contrast, there are indeed differences among the four dailies in Taiwan, protesting against the authority as a legitimate democratic right had been constantly employed to reduce or downplay concerns of ‘violence’ and ‘foreign intervention’. However, an important cause that made ‘the 2019-2020 Hong Kong Protests’ possible is missing on both the Mainland and Taiwan. There was minimum discussion of increasing and highly unequal distribution of income and wealth in HK since 1997 that popular discontents over inadequate political representation can set fire upon.
