Most of plastic parts designed to complex and changeable shape. Thus the mold design is very important for the part quality. In this study, a cylindrical, hollow, and three steps of plastic parts including different thickness was investigated. A six-cavity of mold was designed to discuss the flow balance. In addition, the gate position and gate size also affect the dimensions and appearance of plastic parts. Results show the gate was designed at the thinner location; it will cause the shape and dimension deformation. If the flow direction at the gate is perpendicular to shaft line, it will bring about the welding lines and short shot. If the cross section of the gate is too small, the surface haze will formed on the surface of part. Comparing the results of CAE analysis and injection molding parts, it consistent with each other. CAE analysis can be used to optimize the runner design for improving the issue of flow balance.
