多點觸控平板電腦電子書之手勢操作數位閱讀經驗研究

A Study of E-Reading Experience on Multi-touch Tablet PC

摘要


據近年來研究結果,超過93%的資訊是以數位的方式被創造出來,隨現今之數位裝置載具及網際網路的數位資訊發展,台灣數位閱讀人口五十三萬,年成長率五二%,加上自從2007年亞馬遜 (Amazon. com) 推出電子書閱讀器Kindle後,全球更掀起了一場數位閱讀新革命,也證明了平板電腦式電子書與電子書應用程式市場的成長潛力在未來將不容小覷。然而,閱讀本是一種人類長期以來自身擁有的文化與習慣,但數位科技卻大大改變了閱讀方式,對於強調使用者中心的現今科技,數位閱讀就更應循使用者的經驗法則。因此,為實際瞭解數位閱讀經驗,本研究將採質量並重的實驗設計,藉以探究使用者行為以及電子書介面操作兩者之間的關係。 本研究首先透過選定之兩款代表性的電子書介面針對30位受測者進行任務操作以及閱讀行為觀察,以成對樣本T檢定檢測兩款受測樣本於主觀感受評量、互動滿意度以及系統使用性尺度量表之間是否具有顯著差異,並依此分析結果進行原則推論以及原型介面設計。研究最後藉由前導實驗中評價與績效較良好的HamiBook與原型介面進行使用性評估比較,驗證了本研究推導之多點觸控式之電子書介面設計原則如下:(1) 隨時提供書籤功能、(2) 隨時提供筆記標註的功能、(3) 書籤與筆記的圖像設計應具一致性、(4) 超連結的視覺應具有強烈的操作隱喻性、(5) 提供快速換頁功能與閱讀進度顯示、(6) 功能圖示輔以文字為佳,以及圖示應避免置於螢幕角落位置、(7) 確保換頁時的流暢性與方向性以及超連結的效率、(8) 觸控感應區須考慮到使用者操控範圍與大小、(9)相同層級的功能圖示手勢操作方式應保持一致性、(10) 減少介面功能的層級降低手勢反覆操作的次數、(11) 閱讀電子書時應讓頸肩與手臂進行適當的放鬆,並配合使用靠墊支撐手臂。透過以上的研究發現,期望本研究探討的多點觸控式電子書介面使用性與研究結果,在未來能夠提供給學界或電子書介面設計的相關人員作為參考依據。

According to the report with regards to digital publication formulated by the Government Information Office of the Executive Yuan (2006) that over 93% of information is created through digital means. With the development of the digital information on the internet as well as the vehicle for digital devices, the population of digital reader in Taiwan stands at 530,000, with an annual growth rate of 52%. In addition, with the release of the electronic reading device – Kindle of Amazon, a revolution of electronic reading has since spread around the world. Such proves that the Tablet PC style e-book and the related application software have immense growth potential in the market. In order to understand how the user can obtain a sound digital reading and operating experience, this research adopt both qualitative and quantitative experiment design, which aid the in-depth investigation of the e-book interface and interactive behavior. The experiment began by choosing two representative e-book interfaces, and 30 subjects to perform task operation as well as observation of the reading behavior. Pairwise T-test was then adopted to examine whether there was a significant difference in subjects’ assessment of subjective feeling, level of interactive satisfaction and system usage measurement table. Principle of inference and prototype interface design was then conducted based on the results of above analysis. After the interface prototype underwent usage evaluation, the final verified design principle of e-book interface were worked out as follows: 1. Provision of the bookmark function at all times; 2. Provision of notes marking function at all times; 3. There should be consistency in the design of bookmark and notes icons; 4. Display of the hyperlink should contain strong operating metaphorical intention; 5. Provide fast page changing function and reading progress display; 6. It is better to have function icon supported by writing and avoid having the icon positioned in the corner of the screen; 7. Ensure the smoothness of page changes and direction, as well as the efficiency of the hyperlink; 8. The touch sensing zone should consider the size of the operating parameter of the user; 9. The method of hand position of the function icon of the same level should maintain consistency; 10. Reduce the level of interface function, hence minimize the number of repeated hand operation; 11. The neck, shoulders and arms should be adequately relaxed when reading the e-book, as well as the utilization of the cushion to support the arms. From the above findings, we hope that the usage and results on the multiple-point touch sensing e-book interface of this research can contribute to the academic world and interface design personnel as a means of reference in the future.
