With the progression of internet, many people start using social networks as a communication bridge with their friends. From Wretch to Facebook, social networks are becoming a part of our lives. In March 24, 2011, Facebook launched a new feature called “Ask Question”, that allows users to create questionnaires for their Facebook friends to answer. Unlike traditional email-based and web-based questionnaire surveys, the results of social network–based questionnaire surveys seem more dependent on the influences of friends. This thesis develops a simulation model to simulate various situations encountered during use of Facebook Questions, such as friend influences, questionnaire dependencies, and connectivity of social networks. The experimental results show that there is almost no difference in results between social network–based questionnaire surveys and traditional email-based and web-based questionnaire surveys under certain reasonable assumptions.
