乙太被動式光學網路上能支援多媒體服務之動態頻寬配置機制

摘要


乙太被動式光學網路(Ethernet Passive Optical Network , EPON),結合了乙 太網路(Ethernet)與被動式光學網路(PON)的優點,如穩定性高、保密性佳、價格低廉、容易去建置設備等等因素,提供了下一代高頻寬的接入式網路(Access Network)一個絕佳的選擇,目前也已成為IEEE802.3ah 的標準。 本篇論文最主要在探討在EPON系統中,上傳部分的頻寬配置機制,我們針對不同的多媒體資訊,提出有效的動態頻寬配置演算法以提供適當的服務品質保證。在本論文中,特別針對幾個方面來考量。第一、佇列的資訊量;第二、附加值(Credit);第三、優先權的考量。 佇列的資訊量部分,考慮到了實際在傳輸時,佇列裡的真正資訊量,再依照優先權的高低,分別配與適當的頻寬方式,期望能減少平均封包等待時間,並能使優先權較高的資料在不同的網路環境下,都能有較好的效能。最後以模擬結果驗證。

Ethernet Passive Optical Network(EPON),which combine the advantage of Ethernet and Passive Optical Network,offers many excellent properties such as high stability,sufficient security,ease of deployment。Therefore,EPON has become the IEEE standard ,and is poised to become one of the best candidates for next generation broadband access network。 In this thesis,we propose dynamic bandwidth allocation mechanism in the upstream direction of EPON system。The proposed mechanism aim to provide satisfied Quality of Service support for a variety of multimedia traffic sources。 The amount of allocated bandwidth in such mechanisms mainly depends upon the following factors:the reported queue length,the credit value representing the predicted bandwidth requirement occurring between the reporting time and the actual transmission time,the access priority of each individual traffic。It is shown through simulation that the proposed mechanism can effectively reduce the average packet waiting time。Besides,the mechanism can guarantee that packets with higher priority always enjoys better performance results。
