摘要

本論文旨在探討將會以珍•奧斯汀小說為基礎去探討相對應時期和20世紀電影中的服飾。在小說中，珍•奧斯汀會提到服飾，但是因為服飾對大部分的讀者而言，只是一個看過去卻不會特別留意的細節。藉由這些句子或段落，來試著理解當時的狀況或珍•奧斯汀使用的原因。我也會使用一些評論家的論點來支持此想法。論文中也會穿插一些圖片可以用來幫助讀者了解當時代的服裝背景以及做一些比較差異。並且和電影中的主角們的服飾做比較。經過這些比較後，我們會知道原來珍•奧斯汀安排這些小細節是有她的原因的，也更能說服閱讀小說的讀者們。

This thesis examines the concept of fashion in Jane Austen’s time. Looking closely at Austen’s novels, I explore how and why Austen used her knowledge of fashion in particular sentences and paragraphs to comment on social status and class distinctions in her society.
