Most commercial products are required to have tags to show the contents or related information of the product. Using tag gun could quickly complete the work of hanging a tag. Currently tag guns can be classified into two types: one is nailed-style tag-gun, and the other one is buckle-style tag-gun. The nailed-style tag-gun is most commonly used. However, it requires penetrating the tagged article and causes slight damage to the article. When the tagged article is not allowed to have slight damage or can’t be penetrated, it requires a buckle-style tag-gun to do the tagging work. The actuating method of a buckle-style tag-gun is more complicated than that of a nailed-style tag-gun, therefore its structure of inside mechanism is more complex as well. Currently there are few products for buckle-style tag-gun. This thesis presents a novel design of buckle-style tag-gun. The inside mechanism mainly includes three sections: input, feeding and driving. This novel mechanism design is based on the prior patent design and modifies the design in order to simplify the required mechanism without changing its overall motion of the mechanism. Yan’s creative design of mechanism structure has been applied to obtain the potential simplified mechanisms for each section, and then integrate these mechanisms of three sections into the final novel design. The solid model of this novel buckle-style tag-gun has been constructed in Solidworks software. The interference check and dynamic simulation have also been performed via the simulation function of Solidworks software. The preliminarily results have been confirmed the feasibility of this novel design for a strap buckle-style tag-gun.
