電子郵件資料夾視覺化概觀介面之使用性

摘要


本研究嘗試將電子郵件介面以Treemap視覺化做呈現,經由實驗探討不同視覺化介面元素組合對使用者操作績效的影響。實驗之後實施焦點團體訪談,深入了解Treemap視覺化電子郵件對使用者的效用與利益,做為量化資料的補充及意義詳述。實驗介面元素主要以分類層次(簡單分類、複雜分類)和概觀呈現(Treemap、Cushionmap) 二因子混合實驗設計,分別給與受測者實驗任務、主觀滿意度問卷、愉悅性問卷與訪談,結合實驗與焦點團體訪談的結果發現: (1)分類層次顯著地影響電子郵件資料夾視覺化概觀介面之使用績效。當使用者需要查尋郵件日期時,可切換到簡單分類的介面下會有較好的績效;而使用者在查尋特定寄件人時,切換到複雜分類介面下會有較好的概觀績效。(2)使用者操作複雜分類介面的主觀滿意度較高,興奮程度也較高,並且會因為使用這種新的視覺化介面,感受到他人的注意而自豪。(3)使用者會以「郵件主旨」做為社會關係的判斷依據,其次為郵件夾類別、郵件的數量,並且認為會寄最多轉寄信給自己的人,其可能關係依序為朋友、同事或同學、男女朋友或不熟識的人。(4)訪談資料顯示:電子郵件資料夾視覺化概觀介面所呈現的社會關係並不重要,其原因為垃圾郵件猖獗、MSN使用頻繁及有刪除郵件的習慣。最後,使用者認為視覺化概觀介面之電子郵件資料夾非常適合企業使用者。

This study intended to examine the usability of email data overview system by Treemap and to evaluate the effects of interface elements on user’s operational performance through experiments. In addition, this study employed qualitative analysis to supplement above quantitative evaluation through focus group interview about usability and benefits of Treemap email system. Experimental elements of interface are classification level (simple classification and complication classification) and overview version level (Treemap and Cushionmap). Statistical results show that, firstly, classification level is the primary factor of affecting overview of email visualization system. When users need sorting overview, interface with simple classification gets better performance. When users faced with task of searching persons that sending mails, interface with complicated classification gets better performance. Secondly, users get higher subjective satisfaction and excitation with complicated classification, and pride themselves on other peoples’ contemplation during using that interface. Thirdly, users tend to use titles of mails most often to discover their social relationship, than to use category of mail browser and the number of mails. Those who forward most letters, interview users believed that possible mail senders successively are friends, associates, classmates, boy or girl friend and other unfamiliar persons. The result of interview suggests that users would not seriously take the number of mails as reference to social relationship, because of the prevalence of trash mail and frequent use of MSN. Finally, most of interview users believe that visualization of email system is highly suitable for corporate users.
