摘要
台灣的森林資源頗為豐富，森林面積所占部分相當廣大，全台灣之總面積約為3,591,500公頃，而其中森林地面積就有大約2,102,400公頃，佔據全台灣土地面積的59%，可說是台灣十分重要的天然資源，但是全球森林火災近年發生頻繁，同時造成的傷害也越來越嚴重，例如從1988 年夏天美國的黃石公園森林火災燒壞約台灣1/5 面積的森林，一直到最近2003年10月所發生的美國南加州森林大火，最少造成二十二人死亡，八百多戶住家遭到焚毀，而台灣同樣也有不少不同規模的森林火災發生，造成極大的損失。
目前台灣針對以電腦數值分析本土相關的森林火災案例還很欠缺，所以，本研究利用電腦配合專業林火模擬軟體Farsite來加以模擬發生在1993 年1月6 日國有林玉山事業區塔塔加之森林火災，本研究將對森林火災狀況以氣候因子、地形因子和燃料因子來分析比較其中的差異性，並在燃燒過程中觀察火勢擴散的趨勢、火災燃燒的熱釋放率等變化，了解火災發生過程中的現象並加以討論，建立本土清晰完整的數值數據，以期能夠對救火的人員有參考的價值，並以此製定救火的策略，進而加快完成火勢的撲滅。

ABSTRACT
Taiwan is consists of many forests/mountains. In fact, half of the land is occupied by various forests trees. Unfortunately, forest fires happen all the time due to various reasons and cause significant losses in properties and possibly in human life (such as in US/California wild fires).
There are three major elements affecting the forest fire behavior ─ fuel,climate and geographic environment. Then study utilizes a computer code-FARSITE, developed by US/Forest Bureau, to study the forest fire dynamics subject to various important factors.
