近年來,個人電腦處理器因為英特爾、超微與威盛等三家廠商的激烈競爭,使得處理器的技術日益精進,運算處理能力大幅提高。另一方面網路設備的速度也有明顯的增加,Gigabit乙太網路將會逐漸成為市場主流。對於個人電腦叢集而言,其發展性與重要性更是受到市場的重視。 本研究所建構與整合的具負載平衡機制之虛擬伺服器,以目前廣受歡迎的Linux作業系統為基礎,並結合個人電腦叢集(PC Cluster)成為一方便存取、管理的運算資源。本系統整合網路服務與平行運算的工作分派負載平衡機制,使得工作執行時間有效的縮短,達到有效運用資源的目的。最後本研究使用原料切割問題應用程式與車牌辨識應用程式評估speedup與efficiency,驗證本系統之可行性。
In recent years, the rigorous competition among three major manufacturers, namely, Intel, AMD, and VIA, has advanced the CPU technologies substantially. In addition, due to the greatly increased processing speed of network devices, Gigabit Ethernet has gradually become the leading technology in the market. As a result, PC-based cluster architecture has attracted more and more attentions from researchers and the industry. In this study, a Linux-based virtual server system was designed and implemented with load-balancing mechanisms and job-dispatching algorithms. It is a PC-based cluster architecture with a user-friendly web interface. This system is capable of providing network services with parallel and distributed computing mechanism. To demonstrate the performance of the proposed system, stock cutting problems and license plate recognition problems are used as test cases. Several experiments are designed and conducted with promising results while measuring the speed-up and the efficiency of the proposed system.
