This study uses the logit regression to examine the determinants of default and recovery rate on consumer loans. The empirical evidence shows that debt ratio, gender, education level, loan amount, employment category, income, and credit situation have significant effects on the default rate and recovery rate of the consumer loan. Our findings provide commercial banks with better information on borrower selections and on the calculation of recovery from non-performing loans.
