Crystallization of poly (ethylene terephthalate)(PET) was studied using optical microscopy under various thermal history. The PET sample was melted at 300℃ with different heating time (10 min, 8min, and 5min), then cooled to different crystallization temperature(180℃~230℃)using various cooling rates(100℃/min, 50℃/min, and 20℃/min). The experimental results revealed that the crystalline of PET crystallized at a lower crystallization temperature were positive and usual spherulites. At a higher crystallization temperature, mixture of positive and negative and unusual twisted spherulites were observed. With shorter melting time at 300℃, the Tc for the mixture of positive and negative and unusual twisted spherulites to appear will decrease. With slow cooling rate, the induction time for PET spherulite start to growth will be reduced at Tc=230℃. The twist spacing of spherulites increased with increasing crystallization temperature. At the same Tc, The twist spacing increased with increasing cooling rate.
