摘要


在網路多媒體服務中,H.323已是一被廣泛接受的協定。在現存H.323所允許的會議架構存在容易形成頻頸的問題,其中包括無法消弭距離因素的問題與參與人數易受限的擴充性問題。在目前的解決的方法之一為應用主動式網路的策略。主動式網路的優點之一為資料的整合與分配,可以於網路節點中進行,並提供了一創新的方法來定義新的網路服務。在主動式網路中,網路節點能動態的依據使用者或網路服務提供者的設定來處理訊息。然而主動式網路亦因自訂運算而大大增加訊息處理的時間,因此是否能被廣泛使用,有待更進一步的研究。 本論文將H.323視訊服務建構在主動式網路上,以探討視訊服務建置在主動式網路的可能性。我們實際地測量主動式網路節點的處理延遲,並比較以主動式網路與傳統網路為基礎的H.323視訊系統的效能,以評估主動式H.323的實用性。本論文也提出一動態區域化(Dynamic Cluster Zone,DCZ)機制,並配合主動式網路的策略來改善H.323中關於距離性與擴充性的問題。最後,我們提出一數學模式來分析傳統式H.323與主動式H.323服務,結果顯示如果適當的設計主動式節點的作業系統,主動式H.323可以有較好的效能與服務品質。

H.323 has been a widely accepted protocol for the multimedia network services. However, there exists some problems for the conference architecture of the present H.323, for example, the latency problem where the distance between the client and the server is too long and the scalability problem where the number of users is limited. This thesis proposes a solution to these problems by the use of the active network strategy, which enable us a new way for defining new network service. The network nodes of the active network are programmable and can dynamically process messages according to the requests of users or network operator. One of the benefits in active network is that data can be mixed or distributed in network nodes. However, the message processing overhead of the active network node also increases significantly. Thus, whether the active networking technology will be widely accepted require further study. In this thesis, we construct a H.323 video conference service over an active network to study the possibility of multimedia service over the active network. We measure the message processing delay of an active node and compare the performance of the active-based and the traditional-based network. We also propose a dynamic cluster zone (DCZ) scheme to improve the distance and scalability problems in H.323. Finally, we propose a mathematic model to analyze the performance of the traditional and the active-based H.323. From the model, active-based H.323 will performance better than that of the traditional-based one if the operating system of an active node is carefully designed.
