A WWW Information Filtering Agent by Content and Tags of Documents

The fast growth and extensive use of World Wide Web has made Internet become the largest information resource in the last few years. On the other hand, information retrieval becomes more difficult due to the inconsistent and changeable formats of the data stored on Internet. Information retrieval services such as search engines, directory services, and meta-search engines had been developed for the convenience of the users. However, the quality of the query results and the complexity of the query process are not satisfactory and more advanced information retrieval and filtering services should be introduced to the users. The purpose of this project is to develop an intelligent and autonomous information filtering agent. The interest profile of the agent is reduced from the given web page example by analyzing the content and special tags in the examples. The web pages retrieved and filtered can be biased by the interest profile and then returned to the user. Furthermore, the filtering ability can be enhanced gradually by adjusting the interest profile from the feedback of the user.
