行動電話圖片檢索服務之設計與使用性研究

摘要


台灣的行動通訊產業已邁入第三代行動通訊系統時代,雖然行動電話功能越趨強大且數據傳輸速率亦大幅提昇,但加值服務操作介面的使用性低落卻造成使用者卻步。市場未能持續擴大連帶影響業者不敢貿然投資,在電信業者營利來源逐漸轉向行動加值產業的情況下,只有改善行動電話加值服務的介面使用性,才能讓使用者願意開始願意嘗試使用加值服務,將產業帶往正向的循環中。由於現有的行動電話圖片下載網站的使用性問題是來自於文字分類的圖片搜尋方式,因此本研究希望能藉由基於內容的圖像檢索技術避免文字表達的限制,提高圖片檢索的效率。 本研究將文獻中軟體開發的相關使用性原則以及關於行動電話和行動上網服務的使用性研究歸納整理成適合本研究的「行動上網使用性設計原則」,依據這些使用性原則、基於內容的圖像檢索技術的導入以及劇本法開發流程的引導,經過「分析」、「設計」及「實作」,引導出使用者的需求、系統預期的功能、資訊的呈現以及詳細的互動流程,進而實作出「CBIR圖片檢索系統」。最後依據「行動上網使用性設計原則」進行「CBIR圖片檢索系統」使用性評估,證明「CBIR圖片檢索系統」的確改善了現有網站使用性不足的部份。

The technology of mobile communication industry in Taiwan has been advanced to Third Generation (3G). While the technology keeps improving, the market of mobile services seems to be at a standstill. The reasons are mainly because of the impression of low-speed Internet connection, high-cost of transmission bandwidth and the lack of interface usability of the services provided. The users are more likely to embrace and pay the services only when the usability of the services is improved. The major usability problem of the image retrieval service lies in the searching method based on text description. Therefore, Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) is used to improve the usavility and efficiency. In this study, the principles of usability to design software and Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) services are studied and concluded. They are used to develop an image retrieval service on mobile phones. CBIR and Scenario-Based Design are introduced to the design flow of the prototype service. To induce the users’ needs, expected functions, visualization of information and detailed user interaction, a sequence of stages of “analysis”, “design” and “implementation” is executed. The result is an image query and download service based on the content specified by the user. Evaluation is also performed to reveal what are improved by our usability principles used in the design process.
