設計者應用CAD軟體建構三維設計產品時,依然是透過二維的顯示螢幕來觀察三維物體,無法呈現三維模型真實的尺寸和景深,且與設計產品也不能直接互動。一個能提供全尺寸場景、且能與設計產品直接互動之三維「虛擬設計(virtual design)」環境,能夠改善設計者對設計物件的觀察與互動方式。 在設計過程中,不同的設計者或設計者與顧客之間,常需藉由「電腦支援協同工作(Computer-Supported Cooperative Work, CSCW)」技術,讓設計者可以在不同地方透過網際網路進行共同設計與遠距溝通,並應用「遠端臨場(telepresence)」技術讓設計者或顧客能以直覺且自然的肢體動作控制設備工具,與遠端的人、事、物進行互動。 本研究目的將結合虛擬設計、電腦支援協同工作、與遠端臨場三項技術,建立一個「三維工程模型遠距協同設計系統」,讓處於兩地的設計者或顧客可透過網際網路,經由一虛擬空間以全尺寸、全景深的方式檢視、評估設計產品,同時讓顧客以直覺且自然的肢體動作控制指標工具與設計產品進行互動,並透過語音工具即時溝通。
When using a CAD software to build the three-dimensional model of a product, the designer still observes the three-dimensional object through the two-dimensional display screen. In the design process, the designer is unable to perceive the true size and depth of field with design model. The concept of virtual design is to use virtual reality technologies to enable designers to interact with the design object in a three-dimensional virtual environment. In the course of designing, Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) technology is often used between different designers or between designers and customers in different places to develop the product together. Moreover, telepresence technology enables the user to interact with remote participant and object using intuitive and natural movements. The purpose of this research is to combine virtual design, CSCW, and telepresence to build a remote collaborative design system. The designer and the customer in different places evaluate design products together in a full-scale manner via a virtual space and communicate through the Internet. The designer and customer also interact with the design object using intuitive and natural movements, and communicate through the audio tool.
