線上澳洲留學展網站潛在使用者的資訊需求與資訊尋求行為研究

A Study of Information Needs and Information Seeking Behavior by the Potential Users of Online Australian Education Fair Websites

摘要

據統計發現，澳洲是國際學生最多的英語系國家，且2008至2009年從台灣前往澳洲留學的人數成長近1倍，同時期前往美國與英國的留學人數則趨於減緩，這表示澳洲對於台灣留學市場來說，在未來是有成長潛力的。研究者也發現，大部分有意前往澳洲留學的人，多會透過網路尋找留學資訊，但大部分的澳洲留學相關網站甚少針對潛在使用者資訊需求與資訊尋求行為進行研究與探討。本研究基於此現況，針對線上澳洲留學展網站之潛在使用者，對其進行問卷的施測，目的在探討其資訊需求、資訊尋求行為，及了解人口特質與網路使用經驗的不同，對其資訊需求與資訊尋求行為是否有顯著差異。最後，本研究依據分析後的結論，針對澳洲留學相關網站建置者與經營者，提供潛在使用者之各項資訊需求與資訊尋求行為，及線上澳洲留學展網站將如何因應潛在使用者之各項資訊需求與資訊尋求行為，提出了資訊需求方面的建議共6點及資訊尋求行為方面的建議共4點，並設計出網站架構圖與規劃表，以提供其作為日後線上澳洲留學展網站內容規劃參考之用。

According to statistics, Australia is one of the English speaking countries with the most international students. Not only so, but from 2008 to 2009 the number of students who went to Australia grew to almost double the previous. Meanwhile, the amount of students who went to U.S.A and U.K. declined. This shows Australia’s potential extension market growth towards the Taiwan Education market. I also discovered that most students who intend to study in Australia will look for internet information, yet most of Australian Educational websites seldom do research on the potential users based on their information needs and information seeking behavior.
Based on this, aiming at the potential users of online Australian Education Fair websites, we used questionnaire for surveying the current state of affairs. Our purpose was to find out if there were any significant differences between their information needs and information seeking behavior through monitoring their information needs and information seeking behavior, and the knowledge thus derived of the population characteristics as well as the differences encountered in their experiences in using the Internet.
Finally, according to the results of our analysis, this study attempts to offer strategies for those establishing and managing related Australian Educational websites through learning about the needs and seeking behavior of those potential users. There will be six points about the information needs and four points about information seeking behavior. The site chart and planning are therefore designed in reference to the future content strategy of the online Australian Education Fair websites.
