以形狀文法分析與衍生歐普藝術造形之研究

摘要

歐普藝術作品帶給觀者的強烈視覺衝擊以及顯明的風格表現，這樣的藝術作品總是難以讓設計者加以仿效衍生創作，但仔細觀察這些歐普藝術圖形作品，試圖從科學角度來分析此類圖形的構成元素及結構排列規則，發現這些圖形都運用了幾何造形做為構成畫面的基本元素，且元素的組合排列以及屬性變化皆符合數學的數列模型，呈現出有規律性的圖像表現，帶給觀賞者強烈與特殊的視覺觀感。
形狀文法應用於設計相關領域的研究，已有相當的成果，多半應用於工業設計以及建築空間的設計。透過形狀文法將設計中的共通規則文法化，設計師可以運用既有的文法來套用或衍生相關的設計。本研究分析歐普藝術圖形有規則性的圖形變化與構成，運用形狀文法推演出歐普藝術圖形文法，並加入參數式形狀文法概念，使文法更易於後續導入衍生系統的發展。本研究開發之歐普藝術衍生系統運用了基因演算法，讓圖形的變化更豐富，並輔助設計者或使用者藉由系統選擇偏好的圖形組合，並可記錄該圖形的參數組合，以衍生出下一代具有類似特徵的變化圖形。本研究中對歐普藝術圖形的分析歸類，以及歐普藝術圖形文法不僅可供相關研究者作為參考，設計者可以根據文法發展相關設計創作。另外，圖形衍生系統工具提供了圖像設計者輔助設計的平台，結合文法與演算法衍生圖形的模式也可以供相關開發者作為參考。

Optical art is a special form of visual art that is a creation with purely geometric shapes and regular arrangements and transformations of the shapes. The regularity and rhythm of the graphic elements compose strong and astonishing visual effect to the audience. The geometric and mathematical properties embedded in Optical art make it possible to be analyzed and studied systematically.
Shape grammar has been used as an analytic tool to reveal structure and composition in a complex form or structure in many fields such as industrial design and architecture. From the rules and basic symbols in the shape grammar corresponding to the form in study, the designers can create more complicated forms. In this research, a shape grammar is developed by analyzing the geometric elements in famous artworks of Optical arts. Parameters are induced by categorizing artworks with similar style. Evolutionary computation such as genetic algorithm is then supported as an aid to the user to help he/her explore different styles and combinations of geometric elements to generate a possibly interesting picture of Optical art. The result is a prototype system that can generate pictures to meet user’s preference. It helps the designer to create more interesting forms. The systematic procedure to conclude the shape grammar also provides stimulus to the work flow for visual designers.
