要形成齲齒有一個必要的因素就是細菌的存在,而最主要引起齲齒的細菌為變異型鏈球菌(Streptococcus mutans),在以往的研究中曾使用各種的選擇性培養基,來篩選口內的變異型鏈球菌,期望能夠使用最簡易且最具選擇性(selective)的方式,來得到所要的變異型鏈球菌。本實驗選取近幾年來被認為較有效的四種選擇性培養基(MSB、TSY20B、GSTB與MSKB)作測試,比較它們的選擇性(selective)、檢測效率(Recovery rate)以及菌落型態的鑑別能力(differentiation reliability),結果發現MSB選擇性培養基較其他三種適合用來檢測人類齲齒病原菌,尤其是針對Streptococcus mutans與Streptococcus sobrinus兩種菌。
Caries is mainly caused by the presence of bacterial plaque. Numerous studies have shown that Streptococcus mutans group plays an important role in causing dental caries. The objective of this study is to compare the efficacy and reliability of four well-recognized selective and differential media (namely: MSB、TSY20B、GSTB and MSKB) for Streptococcus mutans group bacteria. The result of this study shows that MSB is the most suitable use in detecting cariogenic Streptococcus mutans and Streptococcus sobrinus based on their reliability in differentiation reliability and recovery rate.
